Momella Gate to Miriakamba Huts (2515 m)- You will be picked up at your hotel after breakfast (Pick up point to be advised), and driven to the Arusha National Park. After meeting the armed Park Ranger to accompany us, and registering ourselves at Momella Gate, the climb then starts out in the grasslands of the lower slopes where you will see giraffes, buffalos and warthogs and then move into lush tropical, forest inhabited by Bushbucks, Red Duikers, Blue Monkeys, Skye’s monkeys, Black & White Colobus Monkeys and a variety of exotic birds. After a walk of 3 to 4 hours you arrive at Miriakamba Huts, 2515m, where you will have dinner and stay overnight. From Miriakamba there is a lovely view of the Momella Lakes.
Miriakamba Huts to the Saddle (3560m) – After breakfast, we set out for the Saddle Huts (3,560m) .We stop for a picnic lunch at Mgongo wa Tembo (Elephant Ridge), where you will have a good view of Meru’s Crater After arriving at the Saddle Huts , a 3 to 5 hour walk, we rest and hike to the summit of Little Meru(3810m) , which has spectacular views of Mt. Meru’s summit, and the sheer cliffs of the crater wall. As the sun sets behind us we can watch the glaciers on Mt. Kilimanjaro in the shades of the setting sun. We return to the Saddle Huts for dinner and a short rest, a brief snack, and preparation for our departure for the summit of Meru at around 2-30 in the morning on Day 4.It will be cold , you will need gloves, a hat and a headlamp as well as you warm mountain gear.
We start out in early morning at 2.30 am in order to see the sunrise from behind Mt. Kilimanjaro. After arrival Rhino Point (2870m you will have time to take photos of sunrise and later you will descend back. On the way back we pass the Ash Cone Crater After stopping for lunch at Saddle Huts you go down via Miriakamba, where you will have a short break, because you will have been walking for about 7 to 8 hours. We will descend back through the forest, where you will see many animals at very close range, especially giraffe and zebra. We arrive at Momella Gate in the afternoon, where you will receive your certificates. You will then meet your driver who will take you back to Arusha for drop off (Drop off point to be advised).
Cancellations must be received in writing by emailing us at. All suppliers charge cancellation fees, which they in turn pass on to us. Therefore, reservations that are cancelled reduced in length of stay or in number of people, are subject to cancellation fees.
If you must cancel before your trip, your money will be returned, less the cancellation fees (below).
